How to get there

 

The Conference takes place at the Technical University of Darmstadt (TU Darmstadt), at the department of architecture, campus area Lichtwiese,  El-Lissitzkystr. 1, building No. L3/01.

  

Please note, that there are two main campus areas of the University (TU Centre, close to the Luisenplatz and TU Lichtwiese, South part of the city).

 

Thirsday Sept 7th:

 

The Conference Opening will take place at Technical University - Campus Centre - Schloss (Castle) in the Representation Rooms of the President "Empfangsraum des Präsidenten". The tram stops at "Schloss". In the courtyards some "Naerus" signs will be posted for further orientation.

By train:

Darmstadt main station can be reached via the Deutsche Bahn intercity connection. For timetable inquiries click here: Deutsche Bahn.

Tickets for public transport (1.35€) are available at the main station or at the bus and trams stations.

 

By air:

From Frankfurt airport (Rhein/Main) take the ‘Airliner’ bus to Darmstadt from Terminal 1, Arrivals B, bus-stop 14 (travelling time: 25 min. The bus stops at the main  train station.

By car:

Motor-way A5 (Frankfurt-Basel) or A67 (Köln-Mannheim). Take exit “Darmstädter Kreuz”, direction “DA-Stadtmitte. Then follow the signs  „TU-Lichtwiese“.

After the Autobahn exit Darmstädter Kreuz turn right on the third street into Berliner Allee, go up to the intersection Groß-Gerauer Weg/Eschollbrücker Straße, at this intersection trun left into Eschollbrückerstraße and keep going straight ahead on Heinrichstraße until you reach the sign “Lichtwiese”. Turn right into “Petersenstraße” until the end. Then turn right again until you reach the car park and the architecture department at the end.

 

From main train station (Hauptbahnhof) to TU Darmstadt-Lichtwiese:

 

1st option (direct way, coming from east): Take one of the “K”-busses, direction “Lichtwiese”. Get off at the final stop “Lichtwiese”. Then turn right into the Lisssitzky Street (there is no street sign). The Mensa building (building No. L4/01) should now be on your right side. Walk to the end of the street until you reach  the department of architecture (No. L3/01). Bus-K-Departure: every 15 minutes (travel time appr. 30 min.) The bus also passes the “Luisenplatz”. K-bus schedule

 

2nd option (with one change, coming from west): Take any tram or bus passing by  “Luisenplatz” (most of them do). At Luisenplatz, the central square of the city, change for tram 2 or 9 direction "Böllenfalltor". Get off at the stop "Jahnstraße", then cross the busy street and walk (approx. 5 min.) along the "Lichtwiesenweg" towards its end. You will pass the University's sports facilities on your right and will soon see a 5-storey concrete building - the architecture department - which is the conference venue. Along the "Lichtwiesenweg" you may also find alternative partking spaces apart from the main entrance.

Hotels

 

At the Tourist Office Proregio  you can book your hotel. Please go the link "Buchung" for your booking.

 

Our guests usually stay at the Hotel Bockshaut (www.bockshaut.de) where you should mention that you are a guest of Darmstadt Technical University to qualify for rebate, or in the Hotel Mathildenhöhe (www.hotel-mathildenhoehe.de). Shops

 

On weekdays and saturdays shops normally open from 10 am - 7 pm . All shops are closed on sundays.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Banks

 

The currency in Germany is the Euro. You can find several banks around Luisenplatz which all should offer the service of money exchange. Generally banks open from 9 am - 6 pm. In exeptional cases some banks already close at 16 pm. Friday banks normally close at 3 pm.
