Cor Dijkgraaf (BA Building Engineer Building College,
Rotterdam; MSc, Architecture, TU Delft) is an architect planner with
more than 40 years of experience. He worked for 19 years as the director
for the Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS) an
international institute for higher education, research and advisory
services in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. He worked and travelled
all around the world.
He is specialised in Capacity Building programmes, Institution building, Housing, Urban management, Inner City Revitalisation and Urban Heritage he has been teaching in these subjects at the Master degree courses in IHS Rotterdam, University of Southern California in L.A., USA , Delaware University, USA and Lund University, Sweden. He organised and taught in special tailor made courses the above subjects in European countries, Indonesia, India, Yemen and Ghana. He worked on short term and long term assignments in Europe, Africa, Latin America, and Asia Pacific. Since his retirement from IHS in December 2001 he established his own one-man advisory bureau. As advisor he has been working since in Yemen (Urban heritage Policy), in Ghana (Elmina Urban heritage project) and in Indonesia (Palembang Inner City Revitalisation), Bangkok and Bombay. Since November 2003 he is one of the directors of the newly established firm Urban Solutions in Rotterdam. He is Chairman of the ICOMOS International Scientific Committee on Shared Built Heritage. He is board member and the president elect (2004) of the Pacific Rim Council on Urban Development (PRCUD). He is a Senior Advisor to the Urban and Regional Development Institute in Jakarta, Indonesia. |
